Southern Spain is a very special area and has a vast array of plant and wildlife on the high mountain slopes and ancient Moorish trails.
The whitewashed village of Torrox has the best climate in Europe and the Springtime is a wonderful time to visit and spot soaring eagles, shy Spanish Ibex and an array of wonderful flowers including many types of orchids.
The nearby coastal town of Nerja is a great place to visit and is the start point for many walks in to the Sierras Tejeda and Almijara. The highest peaks include la Maroma, 2070 metres, Navachica, 1832 metres and the stunning peak of El Lucero at 1775 metres. From these peaks there are stunning views of the Mediterranean and far reaching vistas into the provinces of Almería and Granada.
“One of our best holidays ever! Thank you all so much and we’ll see you in the Cabo De Gata National Park in February 2019. Another great Walk Andalucia holiday!”

Walk Andalucia offer exceptional guided and self guided hill walking holidays in Andalucia,Spain. We offer holidays in the pretty whitewashed village of Torrox ,the mountain village of Grazalema, which UNESCO declared a Reserve of the Biosphere due to the exceptional variety of flora, fauna as well as bird and wildlife or the exciting location of San José, a small fishing town in the beautiful Cabo de Gata National Park. This area was home to many famous Spaghetti Western movies as well as more recent due to it’s stunning coastal scenery and the amazing desert of Tabernas.
Torrox officially has the best climate in Europe enjoying over 330 days of sunshine per year. This makes it the perfect location for walking in the autumn and winter.
The charming, whitewashed village of frigiliana is one of the prettiest in Spain. With narrow streets, pretty flowers adorning the houses, interesting history and an array of wonderful artesan shops it is the perfect place to begin a shady walk along the Rio Higueron river, the Rio Chillar or the stiff ascent to the top of Mount Fuerte, 1000 metres, which stands majestically behind the village.
” Paul and Victoria’s hospitality was superb. Their knowledge of the local Spanish history was so interesting and informative. Consideration was shown for every member of the group. I particularly liked how they helped the local businesses and restaurants thus helping the Torrox economy.
It was obvious from their own love of walking that they are so happy to share this with their guests.
I would come on a Walk Andalucia holiday again and will definitely be recommending to friends.”
