Poem by Jackie Porter about the Guided Walking Holiday 22-29 Sept 2007
This is a story about our week’s walking
So settle down please…stop that talking!
And now we’re all seated I think I’ll begin
I’ve been walking, just walking…not on the Gin.
We set out each day about 10 in the morn,
A good time for all, it’s well after dawn.
Puffing & blowing our way up each hill,
Dave at the front, back marker wife Gill
They’ve been up half the night making lunches & food fine,
Hope there’s banana bread today – don’t forget the wine!
Chasing pine cones all day, Biggie’s fit as a flea,
Bounds up & down hills, then leg up for a wee!
She’s not a pain in the neck, Karen has a neck with a pain,
Suren gave up his sunbathing, what a WONDERFUL man!
One day some were knackered, stayed resting our eyes
We joined a keep-fit class, what a surprise!
Higher & steeper go the paths up the hills,
Ouch! That’s my blister, got any energy pills?
Limping home hot & tired & just a bit whiffy,
“Don’t be long in the shower” – I’ll just be a jiffy
But we’ve had some great walks, sun & laughter all the way
Thank you Dave & Gill, we’ll all be back another day! |
