Walk Andalucia guided and self guided walking holidays in Spain, email: enquiries@walk-andalucia.com

"Graham & I wanted to thank you for our wonderful holiday. It was great from start to finish. The accommodation was good, the walks wonderful & John who looked after us was brilliant. We can't praise you enough. Many thanks."
Glenys Hodkinson, May 2010

"Thank you very much for organising our trip . I speak for Nan too(as she does not e-mail!!) and we did truly enjoy all the walks despite a couple of showers. The accommodation was spot on for the two of us, the packed lunches great (loved the salads) and here I must thank also John for his help in getting us about and Elaine for a superb administration. Overall, a good trip at the right time."
Mary Ray, March 2010

"Just a note to say thanks for arranging the holiday in Spain. Everything went very well.  We had a glorious week, with sunshine and brightness every day.  We did five walks, and spent our free day in Malaga.  Gill and Dave were wonderful, caring for our every need and yet giving us all the space we needed. They are running a great business."

Margaret and Tony, January 2010

"We enjoyed most the mountain scenery, air and peace. Well organised access to interesting walks - Competa to Acebuchal a particular highlight."
Frank & Catherine Adams, January 2010

"A rather belated "thank you" for all you did to make our holiday so enjoyable. All the ferrying around, the lovely packed lunches and all the information you gave us was  much appreciated.  It was also really good to be able to tap into your local knowledge which enabled us to have a proper insight into the area and the people." Dorothy Scapens, October 2009

" Some wonderful memories, I would not hesitate to recommend it to a friend"

Self guided walking tours in Andalucia reviewed for Responsible Travel
by Valerie Huggins, April 2008

What was the most memorable or exciting part of your holiday?
Lots of lovely memories. Stopping for a picnic lunch in a pine forest, overlooking the Torrox valley, with views to the mountains, having seen no one else for hours. Warm sunshine, and just us and the sound of the birds - truly away from it all! The sense of achievemnet of getting to the top of the ridge having scrambled up the side of a gorge at Frigiliana, and seeing the wonderful view to the sea with the mountains behind us. A delicious tapas lunch in Nerja, after visiting the amazing caves. Each day was different, as each walk offered another perspective on that part of Spain, They were all well organised and the maps and photos meant that we could enjoy the walks and the scenery without worrying about getting lost!

What tips would you give other travellers booking this holiday?
Make sure beforehand that you are used to walking in the countryside.
Discuss your itenerary fully by email and/or by phone before you depart, and then during your holiday by talking to the Armsteads. They are very helpful and will change things accordong to how you are feeling. We used our free day to do a photography course and Spanish cookery course, which added something extra special to our week.

Finally, how would you rate your holiday overall?
It was excellent. Very well organised. The Armsteads were very welcoming and helpful throughout. We had a complete change of scene, thoroughly enjoyed the walking, which set us a challenge, but was not so strenuous that it took away the fun. Ideal weather, good accommodation.

"I just wanted to say what a fantastic trip we had to Andalucia. We thoroughly enjoyed the accommodation, so much friendlier than an hotel.... Please thank Gill for the wonderful packed lunches. Dave was great driving us around the place and telling us some very interesting little anecdotes to the places we were visiting. We would definitely love to come again."

Some wonderful memories, I would not hesitate to recommend it to a friend - Andalucia self guided walking holiday reviewed for Responsible Travel by Annettte Chilton October 2007

1. What was the most memorable or exciting part of your holiday?
The most memorable and exciting part of the holiday was walking the long linear walk. Loma Del Daire - Acebuchal. The scenery was spectacular and reminded me of the beauty of the Grand Canyon. However we got lost and ended up walking 20mls! The local people were very helpful and they found us a short cut through a gorge which was only known to local people. The people were so helpful and welcomed tourists and did not leave us until we found the welcome hostelry at Acebuchal. Our guide Dave was very patient throughout the whole holiday as we got lost many times but he never gave up on us. The pack-ups were generous, fresh organic food and a real spoil.

We also lost our camera but one of the locals returned it which was an amazing feat as he had to search the intranet for our address and much to our amazement managed to track us down. Dave again came up trumps as he even went out of his way to pick it up.

2. What tips would you give other travellers booking this holiday?
Travellers need to ask if there are any festivals in the village as although they are fun and celebrate the culture the music plays on till early hours.

3. Did you feel that your holiday benefited local people, and minimized impacts on the environment?
Local people benefited in that we appreciated their environment which meant they felt valued and respected which is good for building cultural relationships.

4. Finally, how would you rate your holiday overall?
Brilliant! The guides Dave and Gill were patient throughout and always went the extra mile.

"Appreciated discussion re itinerary before departure and whilst here. Impressed with regard to safety ... lovely scenery and routes. Loved the sun, walking and relaxing. Eating out (nice to get away from cooking for a week) and last but certainly not least "thank you to John". Always waiting for us at the beginning and end of each walk. We much appreciated his company and all the local information he was able to give."Feedback from Dorothy & Alan Scapens, November 09

"Just a quick note to say how much we enjoyed ourselves in Torrox last week, the walks were all different and some fairly challenging. Thanks for you input and we would happily recommend your company to friends" Feedback from Rob Beazley, September 09

" ..especially enjoyed the more out of the way walks - Maro Canyons and Acebuchal & Ermita la Cailixa" Feedback from Clare England, April 09

" .. packed lunch and starter pack excellent. Enjoyed most not having to rush in the mornings, sunny terrace for relaxing, feeling very well supported and looked after, a great selection of walks and your flexibility - thank you!."
Feedback from Sam Bracebridge, April 09

"Many thanks for lending us your lovely house in Torrox, we trust we left it as we found it. It was wonderful breakfasting on the roof terrace every day, with bread and croissants from Ortiz at the bottom of the steps. The only thing Jenny didn't approve of (but I did!) was being able to watch The Bill on Sky! On Thursday and Friday we had the procession almost past the house with the band still going at 2.00am!

"Everything went smoothly from getting the car to completing all the walks prepared by Dave. He was very helpful, and even changed one we didn't fancy for one of the best we did. This was all helped by the weather, which was sun every day with about five minutes (literally) of rain in the middle of one day. Best of all, with the sun, was a cooling wind which made for ideal walking conditions."
Feedback from Peter & Jenny Wilks, March 09

"I would like to say a big thank-you to Gill and Dave. We had a fantastic week, and really chilled out. I am a very active person, always on the go, and often find it hard to relax, but during our week in Torrox I was thoroughly relaxed. In fact it is a long time since I was so chilled. Dave did a great job setting the walk schedule ...Each walk was interesting and scenic and has really whetted our appetite for more."
Feedback from Audrey McIntosh, July 08

" ... the weather, which was almost perfect, the views, which were amazing in places and, not least, the care and i nformality and friendliness of you and your helpers. This is where a small company can score and you have got this just right."
Tony & Hannah Taylor, December 2008

"I would like to say a big thank-you to Gill and Dave. We had a fantastic week, and really chilled out. I am a very active person, always on the go, and often find it hard to relax, but during our week in Torrox I was thoroughly relaxed. In fact it is a long time since I was so chilled. Dave did a great job setting the walk schedule ensuring that the effort was manageable in the heat, and got it just right. Each walk was interesting and scenic and has really whetted our appetite for more.." Audrey Mackintosh, July 2008

"All GREAT: all in all a very enjoyable stay - many thanks."
Don & Angela McInture, February 2008

"We enjoyed the walks, Elaine's house and the ambience in Torrox - in equal measure. Many thanks for a lovely holiday".
Avril & Jerry Cuthbert, 03.05.08

"The programme was excellent; great variety of walks; information very detailed and understandable; we enjoyed most the combination of the location and the walk programme. Also the opportunity to relax at the beach and the traditional, local food available within the village. Will most definitely be back."
Martin & Laura Taggart , June 2008

"I know a little constructive criticism can be helpful in honing the service but I really am struggling to find anything which could be improved upon... We enjoyed most the fact that every day the weather walking conditions were considerede and the programme adapted accordingly. The opportunity to see the Andalucian countryside, the tranquility. We'll be back!"
Mary and John Burnside, September 08

"The programme of walks was excellent! Clear instructions and a wonderful variety ofwalks. We really appreciated being dropped off/picked up and the flexibility/security provided by having a Spanish mobile phone. The packed lunches were superb and could not be improved on!
Carole Stark - October 2007

"The programme was fine, very flexible. All our wishes were gladly met. Catering was excellent - we thoroughly enjoyed the picnic food and salads - delicious and very health! We particularly enjoyed the combination of tough, satisfying walks with mountain views, swimming, relaxing and cultural visit to Granada, plus the village atmosphere. We would like to come again."
Paula Van Herk, September 2007

"Paulette & I arrived safely back home this morning. The holiday was extremely enjoyable and suited us perfectly. With you ‘over here’ and Dave ‘over there’ your organisation left no question unanswered. Which is just what we need when in a foreign country."
Paulette & David McKail - April 07

"We really enjoyed our holiday. Dave and Gill were attentive, thoughtful and welcoming hosts. They made strenuous efforts to ensure we enjoyed our time .The accommodation was very comfortable. This is a 4star holiday at a very reasonable price and we will definitely go again. This holiday gave our world a break.

Fiona Gardner, Glasgow - Jan 07
"Just a note to convey to all at 'Walk Andulusia' how much we enjoyed our weeks walking hols. All the better 'cos we had good weather, but enjoyed being inland in small spanish town, and off beaten track scenery and experience. Hope to be back. Please convey thanks to Dave for kind transport into Malaga en route to airport. Regards"
Richard & Dot Wallace - Mar 07
"We enjoyed being able to walk on good paths in out of the way places at a pace and distance that suited us. For us it was not about the distance travelled, it was the journey itself and we saw some fantastic views, unusual plants and interesting places. The organisation was excellent and every care was taken for our safety without spoiling the experience. The picnic lunches were fab! "
Margaret Underwood May 07

"We would like to thank Dave Gill and yourself for a wonderful holiday. It was all we were promised and more, you all have been so accommodating for everything we asked. Once again thankyou very much. "
John Griffin - June 07

"The programme has been great, and it's so nice to have someone taking care of that side of things who knows the area. The flexibility is also great, no pressure - the walk instructions were very good and we rarely used the compass and main map. Lunches were great; general organisation has been great; great to stay in a "proper" village and muddle through in awful Spanish rather than in a resort type area which could be anywhere. We enjoyed most the walks on the mountains away from everything; the peaceful village to stay in; the friendly Spanish people; Dave & Gill's welcome and help."

Dave & Helen Maggs March 07

"It was an excellent break for people who are not lovers of the beach. Good exercise, good food, good wine - what a holiday should be all about. Obviously, lots of opportunities for relaxing at the end of walks. **** Some wonderful memories, I would not hesitate to recommend it to a friend."

Angela Ellis, July 07
