" Some wonderful memories, I would not hesitate to recommend it to a friend"

Self guided walking tours in Andalucia reviewed for Responsible Travel
by Valerie Huggins, April 2008

What was the most memorable or exciting part of your holiday?
Lots of lovely memories. Stopping for a picnic lunch in a pineforest, overlooking the Torrox valley, with views to the mountains, having seen no one else for hours. Warm sunshine, and just us and the sound of the birds - truly away from it all! The sense of achievemnet of getting to the top of the ridge having scrambled up the side of a gorge at Frigiliani, and seeing the wonderful view to the sea with the mountains behind us. A delicious tapas lunch in Nerja, after visiting the amazing caves. Each day was different, as each walk offered another perspective on that part of Spain, They were all well organised and the maps and photos menat that we could enjoy the walks and the secenery without worrying about getting lost!

What tips would you give other travellers booking this holiday?
Make sure beforehand that you are used to walking in the countryside.
Discuss your itenerary fully by email and/or by phone before you depart, and then during your holiday by talking to the Aldreds. They are very helpful and will change things accordong to how you are feeling.
We used our free day to do a photography course and Spanish cookery course, which added something extra special to our week.

Finally, how would you rate your holiday overall?
It was excellent. Very well organised. The Aldreds were very welcoming and helpful throughout. We had a complete change of scene, thoroughly enjoyed the walking, which set us a challenge, but was not so strenuous that it took away the fun. Ideal weather, good accomodation.

Some wonderful memories, I would not hesitate to recommend it to a friend - Andalucia self guided walking holiday reviewed for Responsible Travel by Annettte Chilton October 2007

1. What was the most memorable or exciting part of your holiday?
The most memorable and exciting part of the holiday was walking the long linear walk. Loma Del Daire - Acebuchal. The scenery was spectacular and reminded me of the beauty of the Grand Canyon. However we got lost and ended up walking 20mls! The local people were very helpful and they found us a short cut through a gorge which was only known to local people. The people were so helpful and welcomed tourists and did not leave us until we found the welcome hostelry at Acebuchal. Our guide Dave was very patient throughout the whole holiday as we got lost many times but he never gave up on us. The pack-ups were generous, fresh organic food and a real spoil.

We also lost our camera but one of the locals returned it which was an amazing feat as he had to search the intranet for our address and much to our amazement managed to track us down. Dave again came up trumps as he even went out of his way to pick it up.

2. What tips would you give other travellers booking this holiday?
Travellers need to ask if there are any festivals in the village as although they are fun and celebrate the culture the music plays on till early hours.

3. Did you feel that your holiday benefited local people, and minimized impacts on the environment?
Local people benefited in that we appreciated their environment which meant they felt valued and respected which is good for building cultural relationships.

4. Finally, how would you rate your holiday overall?
Brilliant! The guides Dave and Gill were patient throughout and always went the extra mile.

"The programme of walks was excellent! Clear instructions and a wonderful variety ofwalks. We really appreciated being dropped off/picked up and the flexibility/security provided by having a Spanish mobile phone. The packed lunches were superb and could not be improved on!
Carole Stark - October 2007

"The programme was fine, very flexible. All our wishes were gladly met. Catering was excellent - we thoroughly enjoyed the picnic food and salads - delicious and very health! We particularly enjoyed the combination of tough, satisfying walks with mountain views, swimming, relaxing and cultural visit to Granada, plus the village atmosphere. We would like to come again."
Paula Van Herk, September 2007

"Paulette & I arrived safely back home this morning. The holiday was extremely enjoyable and suited us perfectly.

With you ‘over here’ and Dave ‘over there’ your organisation left no question unanswered. Which is just what we need when in a foreign country."

"We really enjoyed our holiday. Dave and Gill were attentive, thoughtful and welcoming hosts. They made strenuous efforts to ensure we enjoyed our time .The accommodation was very comfortable. This is a 4star holiday at a very reasonable price and we will definitely go again. This holiday gave our world a break.
Fiona Gardner, Glasgow - Jan 07
"Just a note to convey to all at 'Walk Andulusia' how much we enjoyed our weeks walking hols. All the better 'cos we had good weather, but enjoyed being inland in small spanish town, and off beaten track scenery and experience. Hope to be back. Please convey thanks to Dave for kind transport into Malaga en route to airport. Regards"
Richard & Dot Wallace - Mar 07
"We enjoyed being able to walk on good paths in out of the way places at a pace and distance that suited us. For us it was not about the distance travelled, it was the journey itself and we saw some fantastic views, unusual plants and interesting places. The organisation was excellent and every care was taken for our safety without spoiling the experience. The picnic lunches were fab! "
Margaret Underwood May 07

"We would like to thank Dave Gill and yourself for a wonderful holiday. It was all we were promised and more, you all have been so accommodating for everything we asked. Once again thankyou very much. "
John Griffin - June 07

"The programme has been great, and it's so nice to have someone taking care of that side of things who knows the area. The flexibility is also great, no pressure - the walk instructions were very good and we rarely used the compass and main map. Lunches were great; general organisation has been great; great to stay in a "proper" village and muddle through in awful Spanish rather than in a resort type area which could be anywhere. We enjoyed most the walks on the mountains away from everything; the peaceful village to stay in; the friendly Spanish people; Dave & Gill's welcome and help."

Dave & Helen Maggs March 07

"It was an excellent break for people who are not lovers of the beach. Good exercise, good food, good wine - what a holiday should be all about. Obviously, lots of opportunities for relaxing at the end of walks. **** Some wonderful memories, I would not hesitate to recommend it to a friend."
