About Torrox & Las Alpujarras

 

Torrox: Andalucia.

With its narrow medieval streets, whitewashed houses and a rich and ancient history is the lovely traditional Spanish village where our guests stay. Wander the pretty flower lined streets, explore hidden corners and experience the charm of this wonderful village.

Torrox has the best climate in Europe with over 300 days of sunshine each year.The walking here in the winter and spring months is warm and very comfortable. Torrox is within eight minutes drive to the beach and there is a regular bus service.The village also has a  lovely Plaza  with a range of bars and restaurants.

The climate is perfect for a winter walking holiday.

Here is a sample of one of the walks:

Frigiliana & Cruz Pinto. 10 kms. 411 metres.
Walk into a shady canyon following the riverbed through pine trees. Ascend to a ridge line with fantastic views. Return to this pretty white village where there will be time for a cold drink and a little shopping and a chance to wander through this famous white village.

Las Alpujarras: Granada: Andalucia.

This wonderful area of the Sierra Nevada provides us with some of the best walking in Spain. It has high peaks,deep valleys,shady forests and lots of pretty, white villages.

We stay in the mountain village of Capileira which is at 1500 meters above sea level. This pretty village is host to walkers, cyclists and hikers. This holiday is only suitable for walkers who are of a minimum of medium level of walking.

There are many lovely bars and restaurants in Capileira and the Hotel Finca Los Llanos has a swimming pool in which to cool down after a long days walking.

Here is a sample of one of the walks:

Soportújar Acequia Almiar. 17kms. 500 metres ascend. 500 metres descend.
This maybe the most beautiful walk in the Alpujarras. Climbing gently along a dirt track and reaching a wonderful, sun dappled forest. Follow the route of the acequias.
