TRAVELLERS' TALES

some comments from visitors to Andalucia in Springtime

May 2008

"Sue and I really enjoyed our holiday walking with you and the rest of the group in the Axarquia mountains. It was fantastic way to see a truly beautiful and unspoilt part of Spain. Many of the views were amazing and all the more rewarding for having climbed up to see them. "The food on the holiday was also great, particularly the wide selection of vegetarian food. This made a real difference as options are often quite limited outside of the UK. "To borrow from someone else. "Carlsberg don't do holidays but if they did..."

Simon Scott, May 17-24 2008

"Admin helpful & efficient. Excellent house. Walks challenging but enjoyable. Group gelled due to D&G's brilliant organisation & relaxed informality. Would come again."

Bill & Janice Swan May 03-10 2008

"Delighted to find holiday was exactly as advertised, first time we've ever known that."

Thomas Jones May 03-10 2008

1. What was the most memorable or exciting part of your holiday?
It would be hard to say - everything was great. Particularly memorable are the smells of wild flowers, herbs and pine trees during our walks.

2. What tips would you give other travellers booking this holiday?
Don't hesitate to book - you will have a great time! It's a great holiday for single people, it's a great way to meet people and you get the chance to chat to everyone while you walk. The group eats evening meals together, so you won't be on your own.

3. Did you feel that your holiday benefited local people, and minimized impacts on the environment?
Yes, we ate in local restaurants and used local shops and markets. We had to drive to the start of some of the walks, but then our days were spent outdoors.

4. Finally, how would you rate your holiday overall?
The holiday was excellent. Everything was well organised, our guides were very knowledgeable and friendly and the accommodation was extremely comfortable.

Finally, how would you rate your holiday overall?

**** Some wonderful memories, I would not hesitate to recommend it to a friend

1. What was the most memorable or exciting part of your holiday?
The beautiful scenery, the warm sunny weather, the blue skies, the fresh air, the wild flowers, meeting new people and making friends. Hard to choose just one thing.

2. What tips would you give other travellers booking this holiday?
Sticks would be useful particularly for the descents. Also one of those water bags with the tubes are excellent as you dont need to take off your rucksack every time you need a drink. Bring sticking plasters & sun cream. Apart from that, the usual things, and bring an open mind and lots of enthusiasm. It is always good to know a few words of Spanish.

3. Did you feel that your holiday benefited local people, and minimized impacts on the environment?
This is hard to assess but we certainly made sure to leave no rubbish on the walks, and to be courteous and friendly to the local Spanish people. we also ate at local restaurants most nights and shopped at the local supermarket.
But of course we did fly there and used the cars to reach our walking points.

4. Finally, how would you rate your holiday overall?
It was the first time I had been on a holiday like this, on my own, but it did exceed all expectations.
As a group we bonded quickly and walking is a great way to get to know people. I had some interesting, lively and stimulating conversations and lots of laughter. The food was good, I particularly enjoyed the picnics, which were all the better in the fresh air, after a good walk. I felt a great sense of achievement on reaching the summits.
Dave & Gill were perfect hosts, and excellent company at all times.
